The Lanikai Elementary Public Charter School Board of Directors consists of the principal; a teacher and a support staff member, each elected by the constituent group; two parents elected by parents, two members of the community appointed by the board, and the president of the Student Council. Parent, staff, and community seats are held for three years.

New terms begin at the August meeting. Open meetings of the full board are held in the school library at 6:30 P.M. on the third Wednesday of each month. Changes in schedule are posted on the school’s website.
The board may convene a closed session at the end of the open meeting to take up certain issues.
A ten-minute block is reserved at the beginning of each board meeting for comments from the community. Requests to speak should be made in writing to the board secretary. As time is limited, comments should be as brief as possible.
Standing or ad hoc committees of the Board provide pertinent updates at regular meetings and make recommendations for policies, policy amendments, and actions; all final decisions are made by the board itself.
